The cuisine of the Chestnut

The forests of chestnut-trees in the municipal area of Maçanet de Cabrenys are very extensive. It is not ra strange to see, the autumns weekends, dozens of persons walking and looking for chestnuts or mushrooms. The day of the fair chestnuts can be bought, crude or cooked, in the shop that the organization puts. About this shop there are others of crafts in whole approximately twenty.


From the beginnings of this fair also a few gastronomic days were started, parallel, dedicated to promoting the cuisine of the chestnut. Last year the subject matter was extended to the mushroom, another typical product that grows in the local forests. The restaurants take part in the event, preparing specific menus with these autumns products.
