Penya-segats de la Muga Nature Interest Area (EIN)

La Muga cliffs have unique features in the pre-Pyrenean area since this area (372.5 ha) located on the left bank of the Cau or El Rimal within the municipality of Sant Llorenç de la Muga houses a series of Triassic cliffs basically comprising red conglomerates which are not common in Catalonia. The area comprises geological material not common in Catalonia. Its main interest lies in the unique botany. The area is a biogeographic enclave with special interest housing the only spot with different Catalan flora species, especially cryptogramia (bracken and moss).
