The construction of the canonry started during the second half of the 12th century with pompousness and extraordinary magnificence. Despite this, for some reason, this ornamental richness did not continue and the capitals of the main arches of the large central nave remained without decoration.

The façade was built in the first period, when splendour was sought and it is undoubtedly today still one of the most notable complexes of sculptures of the 12th century. The six archivolts, now in ruins, show us an important diversity of sculptural motifs: interlace, squares, stripes, with streaks, etc. The smooth tympanum that occupies the space between the archivolts shows isolated polychrome remains of a painting from the late Gothic period (16th c.) that surely replaced primitive Romanesque paint.

On the upper part of the façade, there is a horizontal moulding that separates an upper window pane with three archivolts in poor condition and a column on both sides. The parameter of the church is dotted with diverse gravestones of priors of the canonry (some from the 13th century).
